Balaam rode his Ass east of the Jordan River when an angel visible only to the beast blocked the path. The Ass stopped dead in its tracks and refused to budge. Balaam beat the animal, which eventually cried out with human speech. This story speaks to me of all who are beaten by masters, but still cry out for justice.

The original plaster for this sculpture was worked in one 30-minute session so that the Ass' frenzy is expressed by my finger work.
