Painted Steel & Bone

These sculptures are hybrids. The core of each is an actual ram's horn. The horn is mounted by wrapping red hot steel flat bars around it and then welding the bars to an industrial gear base. This binding of the horn suggests the story of the RAM CAUGHT IN THE THICKET. When I wrapped the hot bars around the horn it began to smoke and smelled of burnt flesh, bringing the smell of living sacrifice into my studio. I also found that no matter how tightly I bound the horn, it retained a certain wiggle, which is the way of all flesh.
